TerminuSteam badges, etc.
Ok, so a LOOONG time ago, when I first went to a TerminuSteam event, Ace saw the brass pin I had etched, and suggested that I make a TerminuSteam badge that everyone could wear. Doing that in etched brass was a bit out of the question, but I did decide to sculpt and cast some badges. I made an image of the front of a train, billowing smoke, adorned with with a large T -- since what made Terminus what it was and Atlanta what it is were those locomotives. I did this rather quickly, but did I ever share them with the rest of you? Noooo... I was all worried about asking permission, etc. Silly, huh? Anyway, ironically now that I not longer live an Atlanta and can't be at events all the time, I have put them up for sale on my Etsy shop".

I have large badges:

Small pins:

I can also make the small pins into buttons or rings:

I also used them in some fascinators like the ones I've been using for years, now:

Sewing Machines
If anyone is looking to upgrade their sewing machine, The Atlanta Sewing Center has a ton of pre-owned machines for sale. They take machines in for trade when someone purchases a new Bernina. A five year old used Bernina is still better than most machines on the mass market - and The Atlanta Sewing Center typically has good prices on their pre-owned machine. My mother purchased a demo Bernina serger for $400 off the retail price last year. They have a store in Marietta and Duluth.

Parasols
Would anyone be interested in eBay listings for inexpensive, unique, vintage parasols?
Its a search I have emailed to me every day. I save photos of Victorian parasols for reference. It would be easy for me to relay Steampunk "appropriate" auctions.

I hope everyone had a great time at the Mechanical Masquerade. Does anyone have pictures?

Also, Terminsteam's monthly meetups will begin again in January. Most people's schedule is crazy around the holidays. Thus the break.

Michael's (craft store) is now carrying Industrial Chic jewelry components. The picture in the paper has keys, victorian locks and all sorts of other things I can't make out. There is a 50% off coupon in yesterday's paper. Michael's also takes competitors' coupons.

How the Library Coffee Co. came about is pretty amazing. You can learn more about them on their website: http://www.librarycoffeecompany.com/

They also have a Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/librarycoffee

Rarely, the date may change if our coffeehouse night conflicts with Library's wine tastings. I will give you as much warning as possible if this occurs.

Sunday, June 19 · 3:00pm - 6:00pm

Thinking Man Tavern
537 W. Howard Ave
Decatur, Georgia

Please join for your fellow Steampunkers for a beer and conversation. A perfect time to share moments from all the recent convention and discuss upcoming events. Or just kibitz.

Terminusteam's monthly meetups will alternate between an east and west location. Thinking Man for the east and Padriac's for the west.

This month we are meeting at Thinking Man Tavern in Decatur. It is a great place. It is a casual college pub with an industrial inspired feel. It has AMAZING food with a long drink list. Thinking Man's specialty is obscure American beer. There is a nice patio for when the temperature is reasonable.

You can find more information at http://thinkingmantavern.com/index.html

Most people attend in plain clothes but feel free to wear steampunk.

I look forward to seeing you! Feel free to invite your friends.

Steampunk in the Park in Atlanta This Sunday!
Good evening ladies and gents, this is just a reminder that, if you are in the Atlanta area, the Second Annual Steampunk in the Park event will be occurring this Sunday in Piedmont Park!

Steampunk in the Park is Atlanta's annual steampunk, potluck picnic, and will be held from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, May 15th, 2011. Piedmont Park is a 189-acre conservancy located in the heart of Midtown Atlanta. Parking is provided for a small fee in the park's official parking deck, or for free on surface streets surrounding the park (free parking is somewhat limited, but it is occasionally possible to find open spaces along 10th street).

Attendees are encouraged to come out in their steampunk best and bring a food or drink item to share. We will be spreading our blankets out near the brick bandstand in the center of the park, which is between the tennis center and picnic shelters. Dogs are allowed in Piedmont Park, but must remain leashed, per park rules.

This event will go on, rain or shine, as it has already been rescheduled once due to inclement weather!

For more information, please visit our page at the Steampunk Empire or on Facebook.

1890s Day in Ringgold, Ga
This event is going on as planned.  http://www.1890sday.com/   I will be going up there to volunteer and visit relatives; it is my home town and was hit hard by the tornadoes.

It's more of a general festival than a very focused Victorian event, but it might be fun to go up and stroll around.  Are people interested in having some kind of presence there, and/or making donations?  I will be going up in any case, and could take a limited amount of in-kind donations.   Info about volunteering and donations is here:  Ringgold Tornado Disaster Information

Dragoncon's Ultimate Nerfpunk vs. Buzzbee!!!
Alright my lovelies listen up. Last year at dragoncon, some of us got together and decided we wanted to do something different. Rather then buy a bunch of nerf guns and paint them to match our outfits, we turned the tables. We still bought the guns but then matched our outfits to the outlandishly bright colors on them. This was a blast and I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to do this with.

Now as awesome as this was... I couldn't afford or find a nerfgun on the 2 weeks notice I had to make the costume. So I settled for a Buzzbee. I was the only non nerf member of the awesome brigade. SO we decided this year, lets take it a step further... Nerfpunk vs. Buzzbees... Consider this a formal recruitment.

I'm looking for people who want to do this with me at Dragoncon. My Buzzbee dress had moved on to a new owner so I intend to make a new one for my Rapid Fire Tek. So here's the plan. Choose a gun, MUST be a Buzzbee, and build your costume around it. The costume must be made with 90% of the colors on the gun. Here's a link. www.buzzbeetoys.com/USglobal/AirBlasters/indexAB.html We will set up a meet for a photoshoot with the Nerfpunks and let the good times commence.

Here's a shot of last years group and see what happens when you dont have a nerf gun. Lets make it awesome this year and maybe see this to become a tradition!

So... Who's in?

Steampunk in the Park (Atlanta) Postponed
As is the danger of spring picnics, Steampunk in the Park, scheduled for tomorrow in Atlanta, Georgia has been rained out. Forecasts are calling for a 60% chance of rain with scattered thunderstorms and, even if we do get a bit of a respite during the hours of the picnic itself, I'm afraid the ground at Piedmont park will be muddy and not the best place to sit when impeccably dressed.

We are planning to reschedule for a date near in the future, either a weekend in April or May and there is a discussion over on our Facebook group regarding which date works best for everyone. If you have an opinion, please feel free to join the discussion over there and let us know your feelings on the matter.

Steampunk in the Park 2011

Just a quick reminder that Steampunk in the Park, Atlanta's annual potluck steampunk picnic is next Sunday, March 27th in Piedmont Park.

We'll be meeting at the brick bandstand across from the lake at 2:00 PM and remaining until 6:00 PM. Those attending are encouraged to bring along something picnic-related (food, drink, plates, cups, napkins, etc.) for everyone to share, but please don't feel that you won't be welcomed if you aren't able to do so.

Parking is available in the Piedmont parking deck for a small fee and for free on the streets surrounding the park, though it's catch as catch can. Pets are allowed in the park, though they must obey Atlanta leash laws.

If you'd like to RSVP, you may do so at our page on the Steampunk Empire or on Facebook. I'll be posting links to Piedmont Park's website which has driving and parking directions on the event pages.

We're really excited about seeing everyone again!

Second Annual Steampunk in the Park, Atlanta, GA

Now that it's March, I thought I'd post a quick reminder that the Second Annual Steampunk in the Park in Atlanta, Georgia is fast approaching at the end of this month. We'll be meeting at the brick bandstand across from the lake on Sunday, March 27th at 2:00 PM and remaining until 6:00 PM. Those attending are encouraged to bring along something picnic-related (food, drink, plates, cups, napkins, etc.) for everyone to share, but please don't feel that you won't be welcomed if you aren't able to do so.
